Reconstructive Surgery

Along with the team at Guy’s hospital, Mr Alibhai has one of the busiest head and neck cancer ablation and reconstructive practices in the UK.

Reconstructive surgery is often required for tissue loss secondary to trauma, infection, benign and malignant tumours and congenital defects.

There is a vast array of reconstructive options and each case is unique and requires careful thought and planning.

Defects in the head and neck region are often suitable for what is known as ‘free tissue transfer’ or ‘free flap surgery’. This allows the surgeon to maximise form and function and replace ‘like with like’.

This requires an experienced microvascular and reconstructive surgeon and Mr Alibhai has one of the highest success rates for such procedures in the UK.
